Life in the Trenches

I don't really like this
It is so very deep
All I hear is gunfire
As we lie in a heap

It just smells disgraceful
There is literally no light
We dig inside the tunnels
Before we start to fight

I lie in desperation
In my own uncomfortable bed
A tear slowly trickles down my face
Because all my friends are dead

As the train starts to slow
It becomes very loud
And when I see my family
They look really proud

Charlie was inspired to write a poem and send it to us following their visit to the museum. The poem was published with permission of the author.
