Life in the Trenches
I don't really like this It is so very deep All I hear is gunfire As we lie in a heap It just smells disgraceful There is literally no light We dig inside the tunnels Before we start to fight I lie in desperation In my own uncomfortable bed A tear slowly trickles down my face Because all my friends are dead As the train starts to slow It becomes very loud And when I see my family They look really proud Charlie was inspired to write a poem and send it to us following their visit to the museum. The poem was published with permission of the author. Have you found creative inspiration following your visit to the Coltman Trench or after a trip down Smart Street?
