Trails, tales and terrific times await you this half-term as you learn about the creatures in and around the museum. Free admission for children.

Great for familiesThe Wild Escape

There are many animals and mythical creatures living behind the glass within the museum displays. The animals have heard the children who visit the museum talking about the bugs, insects and creatures who live outside in the woods and grounds of the museum. The Collection Creatures are keen to learn about the British Wildlife living outside the building and to explore a new environment.

Your mission is to help the Collection Creatures imagine their escape outdoors by doing any of these self guided activities;

  • Terrific trails
  • Draw a cartoon – choose an animal from your trail sheet, then draw their escape or graffiti art the sounds they hear.
  • Mission Map Making – a take home task!

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11am-3pm FREE CRAFT ACTIVITIES

  • Create a sock creature – bring a clean old sock to use and help save odd socks from landfill.
  • Animal Masks – colour and create your Collection Creature – then go on an adventure outdoors.
  • Create a beautiful bug collage – papercraft

Saturday only, weather permitting. 11am – 3pm Build your bug a cosy den in amongst the trees on the museum site or do this activity in an outdoor space near your home and send us a picture of your cosy den. Instagram @StaffsRegMuseum or Facebook @TheStaffordshireRegimentMuseum

Free entry for children all week. You may be asked to wait at busy times, there is lots to see and do for all the family. Most activites are self-guided and children must be supervised. Activities vary throughout the week. Crafts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only.

The Wild Escape is made possible by lead support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from Art Fund and a group of generous individuals and trusts.
